Optimized vessel design

MINIFOR fermentation vessels have one central neck with large threads for fast and reliable fixing of the agitation and aeration system. The fixing can even be done with just one hand!

A very large central vessel opening just like in a classical vessel with head-plates is not required, which is often used to install baffles. The baffles are eliminated in MINIFOR vessels as the novel up and down agitation does not generate a vortex (central eddies). The central opening of the MINIFOR vessels is therefore made much smaller in diameter and can be closed easily and at a low cost with the help of a threaded cap.

The elastic sterility membrane will be kept in its position while closing the vessel with central threaded cap. The sterility membrane physically closes the working vessel from its outer environment and at the same time, enables the up and down agitation movement. The sterility membrane and easy to use multi-seal permanent stoppers helps to maintain sterility for long runs. The time consuming preparation and mounting of traditional head plates has been eliminated!

The revolutionary infra-red radiation heating placed conveniently under the vessels eliminate the need for jacketed vessels completely and increases the heat transfer considerably during sterilization and cooling.
No heating jackets, heating blankets are needed!

It is possible to increase the number of ports according to the requirements of the project application: Multiple ports and additional solutions increase the effective port number of MINIFOR configuration equivalent to 16 / 22 / 28 classical ports.

Optimized bioreactor vessel design for laboratory fermentor LAMBDA MINIFOR

Interchange vessel volumes at low cost

Only MINIFOR fermentor-bioreactor provides a quick interchange of culture vessels from 35 ml to 6 liters of laboratory working volume - without the need for expensive disposable plastic reactors.

With the exception of inexpensive lateral vessel holders and stirring axis, all other parts and probes can be reused while working with different fermentation vessel volumes.

Fermentation vessel volume range

Smallest working volume for expensive media, slow growing cells or pathogens

MINIFOR 0.3 L culture vessel allows to work with the minimum working volume of 35 ml with all the parameter monitoring and regulation - including pO2!

Cost efficient

Culture media for tissue culture, stem cells, CHO, HeLa, HEK-293 and other animal cell lines are extremely expensive.

It is an important aspect to optimize the experiments (medium, supplements, process parameters, etc.) in the smallest volume possible.

MINIFOR 0.3 L allows to work with the lowest working volume possible, 35 ml in an autoclavable glass bioreactor with all the necessary parameter control and also additional control.

Short preparation time

With small vessel volume, less amount of cell suspension needed for seeding the bioreactor.

Why it is important to work with low volume animal cell culture in lab scale?
Sufficient seeding: Unlike bacteria, the animal cells need a certain population density in the medium to propagate
Faster preparation: The doubling time of animal cell lines are about 24 h.
Ergonomic handling: To reduce the risk of contamination during replacement of consumed media, subculture (passaging).

Safe handling

Advantages in using low volume vessels for pathogenic microorganism in MINIFOR fermentor:

Controlled environment: Easy to fit in clean rooms, glove box or laminar hood

Reduced cost of media and materials

Less waste disposal & pathogens: small experimental reactor volume

Less down time: quick medium cooling & easy cleaning
